The city of Hong Kong is situated on the south coast of China having a total area of 1,104 sq km (1,054 km2 is land and 50 km2 is inland water) and consists of the Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, New Territories and about 200 offshore islands of which Lantau Island is the largest.
